July 19, 1848 – Seneca Falls Women Convention. (First Convention for Women’s Right in United States)
January 23, 1849 – Elizabeth Blackwell is the first women in the U.S to graduate from Med school and become a doctor
May 29, 1851 – Sojourner Truth, and abolitionist and activist for women’s rights gives her famous speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”
Dec 10, 1869 – Wyoming legislates America’s first Suffrage law. (Allowed women to vote and hold off)
April 2, 1917 – Jeannette Rankin, a women activist becomes the first women to be elected into the House of Representatives.
Aug 18, 1920 – 19th Amendment ratified to the U.S. Constitution. (Women cannot be denied right to vote)
Dec 1, 1955 – Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man.
Aug 25, 1960 – Wilma Rudolph becomes first black woman to win 3 Gold medals in a single Olympic game.
June 10, 1963 – Signs into law Equal Pay Act. (Prohibits Sex-based wage discrimination).
June 18, 1983 – Sally Ride, the first woman to travel in space.
March 12, 1993 – Janet Reno sworn as first female attorney general in the U.S.
Jan 23, 1997 – Madeleine Albright becomes nation’s first female secretary of state.
Dec 2019 – Simone Biles becomes one of 3 to woman to win 5 golf medals in a single World Championship at the age of 22.
Jan 20, 2021 – kamala Harris, the very first female and woman of color sworn as Vice President.
